ALPACA OWNERSHIP CONSULTATION SERVICES
Mill Pond Alpacas offers New Farm Set Up Consultation Services, providing you with a comprehensive introduction to alpaca farming in NYS, specifically in (but not limited to) Rensselaer County. Our ultimate goal is to help you establish your alpaca farm, or improve the ease and efficiency of your current farm. The consultation fee includes identifying and discussing the following: goals for your farm, estimating start-up costs, permitting (specific to our county), cultivating your herd, herd husbandry, alpaca care and keeping, general vetting, nutritional needs, and pastures and housing. Consultation customers receive a tour of our barn and pastures, as well as emailed information on resources to get started on your journey to alpaca ownership. This list is non-exhaustive, and each consultation will be curated to meet your specific needs. Please message to inquire about investment and booking.
​ON-SITE FARM TOURS
Mill Pond Alpacas offers on-site farm tours, year round by appointment. We offer two types of tours to the general public: small group and large group. Small tours are for groups of up to six people. Large group tours are designed for 4H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, homeschool groups, and beyond! Please message Mill Pond Alpacas to inquire about the investment, and what each type of tour provides!
ALPACA RENTALS
Mill Pond Alpacas does offer rentals of our animals for your events! Availability of this service varies, and is limited. Please message to discuss the investment, permitting and liability insurance for your event.
ALPACA BREEDING AND SEEDSTOCK
Mill Pond Alpacas sells high-quality alpaca seedstock. Our breeding dams and herdsire are registered with the Alpaca Owners Association. Mill Pond Alpaca's Futurity blue ribbon winning herdsire, Snowmass Native Blue XX (reg# 35096740), is available for stud services. Please message to inquire about purchasing from our herd or stud services.
MILL POND MERCANTILE
Mill Pond Mercantile is our on-site farm store, boasting luxe alpaca products for every need. Mill Pond Alpacas also attends community vendor events in the Capital District, NY with our alpaca wares throughout the year. Upcoming vendor events will always be detailed on our Facebook page.
