A: Mill Pond Alpacas is a full service, 90 acre, family-owned and operated Huacaya alpaca farm located in picturesque upstate New York, just 20 minutes east of Albany in Rensselaer County.

A: Yes! Mill Pond Alpacas is open for farm tours, year round by appointment.

A: Mill Pond Alpacas offers two types of tours: small group and large group. Small tours are for groups of up to six people. Large group tours are designed for 4H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, homeschool groups, and beyond! Please message Mill Pond Alpacas to inquire about the investment, and what each type of tour provides!
A: Small group farm tours are for one hour, and include talking about the history of our farm, sustainable farming in the US, and general information about alpacas and their fiber. Each tour is curated to the group’s individualized interests. Visitors have the opportunity to feed the herd and handle the animals. Photos and questions are welcome and encouraged! Please message to inquire about booking and investment.
Large group farm tours are for 90 minutes. We encourage homeschool, agricultural, and large groups to bring one question about alpacas and alpaca farming per person to the visit; this preparation helps large groups get the most from their tour experience. These tours discuss the above, and also include 30 minutes following the formal tour for guests to remain on-property; this time can be used to collaborate, review, or have a snack together. Mill Pond Alpacas has a large Gorilla playset, and children are welcome to use this after the large group tour is complete (not available for small group tours). Please supervise all children as needed at your discretion. All parties using the equipment on-property agree that Mill Pond Alpacas is not responsible for any children and/or injuries sustained on playground equipment while using the playground equipment. A: Yes! Mill Pond Alpacas makes every effort to accommodate all guests. We are an inclusive farm, and welcome all needs and abilities here.
A: Plentiful off-road parking is available for your tour. Guests can park alongside the main alpaca barn. We can accomodate about twelve vehicles per tour.
A: No, Mill Pond Alpacas does not have a public bathroom. Public restrooms are available within a five mile radius at Stewarts, Cumberland Farms and Hannaford. Portable toilets are available for some large events held here at the farm.
A: Yes! Mill Pond Alpacas offers high-quality alpaca seedstock and breeding services. Please message for more details.
A: Yes! Mill Pond Alpacas does offer an alpaca rental service. Availability is limited. Please message to inquire about availability, permitting and insurance.
A: Yes! Our farm offers a selection of luxe alpaca wares on-site in our farm store, Mill Pond Mercantile. We also attend vendor events in the Capital District, NY throughout the year.
A: Offerings vary each year, and include socks, beanies, pom hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, fingerless gloves and mittens, ethically sourced plushies, blankets and more!
A: Yes! Mill Pond Alpacas does have raw alpaca fiber for sale, seasonally. Please message us to inquire about availability and purchasing.

A: We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, Venmo and PayPal. Alpacas must be purchased with cash or certified bank check.
