THE MAKING OF MILL POND ALPACAS
Mill Pond Alpacas is a 90 acre, family-owned and operated Huacaya alpaca farm located in picturesque upstate New York, just 20 minutes east of Albany in Rensselaer County.​

Established in 2015, we started our journey into alpaca ownership because of our love for agriculture and a drive to instill that in our three daughters. We've since added a son to our crew of hard-working farmhands, and continue to be smitten with the majestic nature of these sensitive and intuitive animals. After a year of research and preparation, we chose our foundation herd in 2016, boasting exemplary health and bloodlines; we have continued to grow and cultivate our herd through Snowmass and West Penn lineage. Mill Pond Alpacas is an Alpaca Owners Association (AOA) affiliated farm.​

Mill Pond Alpacas takes pride in giving our animals the utmost care through solid nutrition, proper animal husbandry, a clean, healthy living environment, and conscientious individualized care. We strive to maintain quality bloodlines, producing crias with gentle temperaments, and dense, full coverage, uniform crimp and soft lustrous fleece. We are excited to offer collaboration and mentorship with both start-up and established farms, and to help customers achieve their goals towards- and in- alpaca ownership.
Mill Pond Alpacas is available for consultation to help you set up your alpaca farm, or improve the ease and efficiency of your current farm. We are available for a consult regarding solidifying your goals as an alpaca owner, estimating start-up costs, acquiring permitting (for residents of Rensselaer County), cultivating your herd, general vetting and husbandry, insuring your farm and animals, marketing, AOA membership, transferring alpaca registration, and creating a safe and functional home for your herd. In addition to alpaca sales, we offer breeding and stud services, farm visits year-round by appointment, alpaca wares on-site and online with Mill Pond Mercantile, customized alpaca rental for parties and events, on-property event hosting, homeschool tours, and property rental for photography with vintage farm equipment for staging. Mill Pond Alpacas is an inclusive farm; we will always do our best to accommodate all mental health and mobility needs. All families are welcome here at MPA.​
